DR. JEFFREY A. SHERIDAN: I started my education at Valencia Community College in Orlando. After that, I went to Cleveland, Ohio, to get some medical education. I went through medical school on an Air Force scholarship, which would not have been able to go through medical school and afford it if it weren't the U.S. Air Force. So I owe the Air Force quite a bit. After I served in the Air Force, I came back here with my wife, who is from Ocoee. She definitely wanted to come back to Florida. She did not like Ohio. It was too cold. Nothing against Ohio. I'll root for the Bucks when I see them. But it's just awful cold. This is home. Definitely home. We care about people that we see. We want to do well for them. From when they walk in the door to when they see a technician to the front desk person to even me, I am concerned about the person. And I'm trying to live my life with the golden rule. I want to treat others as I would want to be treated or I would want to see my mother treated in the same situation. Some people are very sensitive about their eyes. We'll actually hold their hand if they're nervous, if they want to have their hand held. Others, they just want to just get it over with and don’t want to know about it. And we'll treat every person as they want to be treated. It's a career where, unlike some other fields of medicine, you can actually do things for people and improve their quality of life and improve their perception of life, whereas some other fields--I thought about orthopedics, and I think because orthopedics is a slow process and it's hard to fix somebody's back and hard to fix somebody's knee, but it's easy to take a cataract out and improve somebody's quality of life almost immediately.
