Upper Eyelid Surgery

Over time, the hood of the upper lid can surrender to gravity and slowly migrate south. This is part of the natural aging process and affects some more than others. If you find that drooping lids are hindering your sight, consider upper eyelid surgery. The main objective of upper eyelid surgery is to reshape the fold in the upper eyelid and remove drooping skin. It also reduces puffiness in the inner corner of the eye. The result is a restored line of sight, as well as a well-rested and alert appearance around the eye area. This procedure lasts approximately one hour, depending on the specific course of action your doctor prescribes. As you recover from eyelid surgery, ointment or eye drops may be prescribed and applied to facilitate speedy healing and minimize any discomfort. Some patients experience tightness, irritation, and swelling in the eye area; our doctors will provide specific after-care instructions for these scenarios.
