Low-vision Products Leesburg, Eustis, Clermont
Low-vision devices are a big part of low-vision rehabilitation. When used properly, these aids can drastically improve your ability to read, write, and participate in a number of other indoor and outdoor activities. People with tunnel vision or reduced sight that require special attention are given more than a vision aid-they are offered hope!
Total Eye Care Center is home to the most sophisticated treatment options for low vision. Dr. Sonya M. Braudway, our resident optometric physician who specializes in low vision, can direct patients to use a number of low-vision aids at our fully equipped facilities in Leesburg, Eustis, and Clermont.
Low-vision Reading Devices
Total Eye Care Center offers an array of low-vision magnifying devices to help you read. Specialized reading glasses with ultra magnification may be prescribed. If you have more severe low vision, tiny telescopes can be fastened to your glasses or used by hand. In the most serious cases, patients may be directed to use video magnifiers, which project reading material onto a screen.
If you prefer, we can suggest alternative devices in the form of large-print books, watches, telephones, and games. "Speaking" time-keeping instruments are available, as well. These low-vision products can be extremely effective and quite affordable in Leesburg, Eustis, and Clermont.
Low-vision Computer Products
Either Dr. Braudway or our low-vision occupational therapist may recommend special software to facilitate your computer experience. Such programs can make text appear much larger on your screen, or even read text out loud for you. If you prefer, you may additionally program the navigation buttons on your toolbar or a website you are browsing, along with the exact hovering location of your mouse, to be spoken. Some of the general reading devices with magnifying effects can also be used to facilitate computer use.
Low-vision Outdoor Products
Especially for someone living with low vision, the glare of light outdoors can limit mobility. Our specialist may therefore recommend special lenses, which are designed to reduce glare and block certain types of light. Furthermore, transportable telescopes, magnifying glasses, and binoculars can help you get around outside; these outdoor aids may be handheld or attached to your traditional glasses.
