Intraocular Lens Implants Leesburg, Eustis, Clermont
When it comes to diminished eyesight, cataracts are a common culprit, damaging the natural lens of the eye to the point of blurring vision. The good news is that the condition can be corrected with the help of an artificial lens.
At our leading eye care practice, clear sight is just within your reach! Total Eye Care Center surgeons have extensive experience in restoring vision with the highest quality intraocular lens implants, or IOLs, in Leesburg, Eustis, and Clermont.
Types of Intraocular Lens Implants
Ultimately, your Total Eye Care Center surgeon will help you select the most appropriate lens to be used in the cataract surgery procedure. There are three main types of intraocular lens implants: monofocal, multifocal, and toric. At our Leesburg, Eustis, and Clermont locations, patients have access to all types of IOL.
The Monofocal Lens
The original type of IOL, the monofocal lens remains the artificial lens of choice for many patients. The monofocal lens corrects vision at only one distance, meaning it cannot compensate for both near and far-sighted vision. For this reason, contact lenses or glasses (especially reading glasses) will still be needed after surgical implantation. Many experts believe the quality of long-distance vision is better with the monofocal lens, although it will not correct corneal astigmatism. The Multifocal Lens
Patients are showing more interest in the multifocal lens at Total Eye Care Center. Unlike the monofocal lens, it has the power to correct vision across various distances.
The three main kinds of multifocal IOLs are:
- Refractive
- apodized diffractive
After surgical implantation, you may have a greatly reduced dependence on glasses and contact lenses! Because the multifocal lens can correct both near and far vision, the brain will need a period of adjustment to reinterpret images at different distances.
Ask your Total Eye Care Center doctor about toric lenses, which may be ideal for people who suffer from astigmatism.
