Eyelid Surgery Recovery Leesburg, Eustis, Clermont
Eyelid surgery recovery is as much in your hands as it is in your surgeon’s. Achieving the desired results—more youthful and refreshed-looking eyes—relies on following your doctor’s orders and taking the utmost care of yourself after surgery.
At Total Eye Care Center, our doctors will provide you with the information you need to make your eyelid surgery recovery as smooth as possible. At our Leesburg, Eustis, and Clermont offices, we understand that the better prepared you are, the better your results will be!
Eyelid Surgery Recovery: What to Expect
After eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, you can expect to experience some irritation, tightness, and swelling around the eyelids, especially near the incision areas. You may be prescribed pain medication, as well as ointment and eye drops to keep the affected areas moist in the first couple of days. To keep swelling down, our surgeons recommend elevating the head.
Fully recovering from the eyelid surgery procedure usually takes several weeks. Every step of the way, your trusted surgeon at Total Eye Care Center will be standing by to help address any of your concerns.
Within the first week of eyelid surgery recovery, you will return to our Leesburg, Eustis, or Clermont office to have your sutures removed. During this period especially, you will want to rest your eyes as much as possible, so naps are encouraged!
During the second week after surgery, you may be allowed to return to work and resume most of your normal activities. We also recommend wearing dark sunglasses to shield your eyes from the sun and wind elements in the first couple of weeks.
In the third and fourth weeks of recovery, swelling or discoloration will have mostly subsided. Your cosmetic results will begin to reveal themselves, so you will be able to enjoy some of the eyelid surgery benefits.
Eyelid Surgery Recovery: What to Avoid
Until specified by your Total Eye Care Center surgeon, you should avoid exerting yourself as a precaution. Using the computer, watching television, reading, and wearing contacts may be limited for a short time.
